Fortunately, the rescue teams of the centers we support take swift action after a report, usually in close coordination with local police and authorities. These babies or infants are often kept as pets, typically in a cage or on a leash, or are intended for sale. It is deeply heartbreaking that such a trade exists. Remember that a mother or family is often killed, as such a little one will never be surrendered without a fight. <\/p>\n
Recently, 3 young chimpanzees were rescued this way by the centers we know in a short period, but as mentioned, the number of reports has been rising shockingly of late.<\/p>\n
Although they are now in good hands, their journey is only beginning. Providing them with the care for a good and healthy life requires approximately \u20ac2,500 per year. This covers shelter, medical care and check-ups, vaccinations, lab tests, medication, formula milk, fresh vegetables and fruit, and supplements. And not to forget the daily care provided by surrogate mothers. <\/p>\n
